“Truly wonderful- again!”
Reviewed June 2, 2015
We stayed here for a week in October, now in May and have booked for next October. What better recommendation can we give! Dartmoor in spring was spectacular, with carpets of bluebells in the woods and on the hillsides. We walked every day, both in the Haytor area (just 4 miles away) and also further afield. The Mill is comfortable and cosy, so much so that we cooked all our meals at home this time. The kitchen has all the utensils you need. The family are always welcoming and helpful, but never intrusive. The three dogs are stars! A wonderfully relaxing stay.
“Highly recommended for a romantic break”

The property is well-equipped and well-presented, and the owners welcoming. The surroundings are peaceful and seem miles from the bustle of modern life even though you are only a few minutes from the A38. Great pubs, walks and scenery are all close by.
“Fabulous location and facilities”

We had a wonderful time despite the English weather and would highly recommend to other couples. The apartment had everything we needed and was clean and beautifully furnished
“Wonderful accommodation with lovely owners”

I booked last year for myself and my teenage daughter to stay in the Granary while she was attending a summer ballet school in nearby Dartington…Sarah and Nick (the owners) were very helpful and offered excellent advice about places to visit during the day and places to eat but were never intrusive. Their 3 dogs became almost like our own for the week and came on walks with us, showing us which way to go if we hesitated. The accommodation is lovely and had everything we needed and more. Almost 7 months later, my daughter is still talking about it and wants to go back again this summer! We both look forward to returning in the not too distant future!
“Beautiful and peaceful place”

We loved it so much we very much wish to come again. It’s a very special place. We received a lovely warm welcome and nick was always happy to answer any questions and was more than helpful. The atmosphere was one of peace and relaxation in a stunning setting. Two very happy customers!

Our stay was fantastic, the accommodation is first class. We enjoyed the location and were welcomed by fantastic hosts along with the very friendly dogs who actually took us for a walk and showed us the hillside! We highly recommend this to everyone.
“A truly magical place to stay”

It’s hard to describe in words how much we enjoyed staying at Lurcombe. Not only did it live up to very high expectations we’d developed (derived from the photos, description & other reviews) but actually exceeded them! Though not far from the A38, Lurcombe is, as the description will tell you, beautifully nestled away in a hidden valley… We stayed in the Mill. It was spacious, clean & very comfortable – the open plan kitchen & lounge gave it a great feel, and the bedroom was fantastic, with an amazing ‘super’ king size bed! There’s a small hatch above the bed so you can peek out over the rolling hills in the mornings as you plan your day, just beautiful…we spent the Saturday walking around Haytor & over to Hound Tor, which are about 3 miles away from Lurcombe. Saturday evening we went to the lovely Rugglestone in at Widecombe on the Moor, and on Sunday we wondered into nearby village Ilsington to another great pub – The Carpenters Arms…As we found out, it’s very difficult to understand the magic of this place without visiting. “ would highly recommend it and are already planning our next visit! Thank you.
